MC5 DENNIS THOMPSON 1969 RARE PHOTOS

1st ANNUAL DETROIT ROCK AND ROLL REVIVAL
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN 1969 RARE PHOTOS BY RON RICH

To MGT's Readers:

Dennis's Dad has been hospitalized and Dennis is very busy taking care of his family. He will be posting soon so hang with us. In the meantime his hyper chatty friend Kimmer will share some of her favorite MGT stories with you.

Last week I went to the mailbox and found a package addressed to me from an Ebay seller. I brought it inside the house and opened it to find my absolute favorite shot of Machinegun in the MC5 days. Loved the Retro clothes and the ruffled shirts and Rob Tyner's hair! But there is Dennis with his fist pumped in the air in defiance.

Well where the heck did this picture come from? Who sent it to me? I asked MGT about it and he didn't order it. I searched my ebay account to see if I somehow ordered this photo. NOPE Then I search my paypal and not in there either.. A few days go by and it dawns on me that Rupert an MGT fan from the UK emailed me and asked if I would ask MGT to sign a pic for him. Rupert helped us out here on MGT's blog so in lieu of a T Shirt or a pair of sticks, this was his request.

After I discovered it really wasn't my picture I sank into the doldrums.... I really wanted that photo! I went into Ebay and tracked down the seller: Ron Rich

I saw there were only 2 photos available. Wanting them badly, I sadly had to wait for payday. I emailed Ron and asked him to hold the 2 photos so I could buy them both. I planned to keep one and give one to MGT. He has a vast collection of images from his many drumming adventures around the world. He didn't have this one.

Ron wrote back to me and was stunned that I work for MGT and that I planned to gift Dennis with one of his images. He sent me both pictures gratis. He signed Dennis's with:

To Dennis: Rock On!

I just loved it! Ron made my whole week and I know Dennis loved his gift. Now Ron has 2 more really rare MGT photos posted so go snap them up!

Here is Ron's Ebay Store

P.S. I bought the top shot of MGT drumming. Now I have a really fine set for framing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dennis's family tonight...

With Much Love to Dennis, Patrice and Dad
