THE ROAR IS HERE IN DETROIT DOWNRIVER!!!

The positively most coolest collection of hot rods, muscle cars, and dream creation cars, and motorcycles et al will be cruising up & down Fort Street from the edge of Detroit through Lincoln Park (where I grew up) and Southgate and Riverview today June 27th, and June 28th .
This is an annual event that grew from maybe a hundred cars years ago to literally around a thousand. These car owners drive in from all over the country to showcase their sweet, mean, and colorful wheels. These towns are taken over by the cars. What a sight. I wish it could be this way every friggin’ day man! Makes you glad to be alive. Bye, bye, boring Saturday and Sunday. The rumble is in the street, where it belongs.
These are without a doubt the MOST BAD ASS muscle cars Detroit City ever produced. They will be flaunting their muscle, colors, and ever so cool deep throated glass pack sounds today & tomorrow.

This event is the best fun one could ask for even if you are not in the least bit a gearhead. Does not matter. It is the party of parties. Thousands of people will be stretched along the corridor. Did I mention plenty of good lookin’ women? LOL
This is the America I love. Yahoo!!!!
There will be tens of rock bands playing up & down about a three mile stretch. Plenty of gorgeous women and men, and did I mention plenty of gorgeous women? Loads of sound and food, and laughter, awe, and merriment.
THIS is the Detroit City I know and love. If you can get there, get your ass in gear and come on down. It will be one of the coolest things you will ever see and do, I guarantee this!
That is why it is so damned sad what they are doing to Detroit. Screw cars made anywhere else. This is the real Motown, the birthplace of the automobile for God’s sake!
We want our Detroit back now!

Well hello there Lord Thompson. I was directed to your blog and what a fantastic thing you're doing. I just lost an hour of my Saturday afternoon going through your archives and will be heading to your place often to check out your sage thoughts. I've recently started blogging about alternative and/or radical people and moments in history and while i've not yet figured out some of the tech aspects (unlike yourself - i'm impressed!), so far i'm digging it. you gotta love the internet.
julian and i have just taken delivery of 'the mc5 and social change'. as you point out, much has been written on the MC5 but to my mind no book has yet nailed it. i see you've rated this one, so i've got high hopes.
i hope all is well with you, and that we might see you and the dkt on this side of the pond soon.
much love and eternal respect,
dorian x

KIMI (kimmer pal)
I'm sure you'll get to see some sweet rides! I think I hear our Mustangs chomping at the bit out in the garage! Enjoy the music, too, and I think you mentioned something about gorgeous women...? :)
"hey Dennis, My band supported New Race in Canberra when you toured Australia in '81.I have been tracking down archival footage of my band and came across a photographer who has some great shots of you guys from the gig, some classic Ron Asheton stuff as well as the rest of you. i will talk to him about accessing this resource-all the best-Chris."

Thanks a lot Dennis, that's really moving to have such an astonishing musician as you online. Your solos on "Loose" and "November 22" on the official "First and the Last" album will make your name live forever among the first class drummers of the golden age of rock. I've been aware of your blog since the Barman began to write some words about it on his own blog and I've been an avid reader of your story of the New Order. As far as I can remember it was very interesting to learn about the (very) humble beginnings of the band, the Amboy Dukes connection (no kidding but that's me who created the New Order page on wikipedia ! ah ! ah ! ah !) with K.J Knight, and maybe also the Dick Clark horn section thing, the above the average skills of Jimmy Recca on bass, stuff like that. I only thought it lacked details on the very last concert of the New Order because Ron Asheton explained in his story of the band (I refer for that to the booklet that came with the Revenge CD in the fall of the 80's) that Van Halen was doing the first part and most of all that Kim Fowley was about to give the band a hand to be hired by a major label. Maybe ' Mr Bad ' knows the truth.
Hey Brother, To the Most Kick Ass Drummer Ever from a fellow Detroiter and ex-part-time Motor City Bad Boy Myself, Hope You are doing well, PJ

"Thanks for 'adding' me, MGT! I saw you play with the MC5 at the Phoenix in Toronto a few years ago, and was super-impressed with your drumming, and so happy to finally see the band... - Jean"
