GUEST BLOGGER: SUE RYNSKI: ROCK PHOTOGRAPER

Interview with Kimmer and Sue:
Kimmer: First of all...How did you come to shoot Dennis and what was that experience like? (Uncensored is ok) LOL
Sue: I met Dennis in the summer of 1977 in Ann Arbor, at Michael Davis' farm house on Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor where a group of us would meet at night to hang out and the musicians would often jam together. We met through my and his friends, Michael D and Ron Asheton. I was a recent U of M art school graduate and had fallen in with the Destroy All Monsters art-and-rock band, which Michael Davis had joined.
We were all living our art and lives together as a sort of creative community. Dennis is a very like able guy. The photo of he and Ron with the knife came when we were all hanging out at somebody's house on Felch street in Ann Arbor, and Ron and Dennis just spontaneously struck a pose reminiscent of their New Order band.
He was already playing, or about to, in the band The Legendary Sirius Trixon and the Motor City Bad Boys. I met Sirius Trixon later that year, and became friends with him and his band as well. As a drum riser Dennis had the front end of a 1957 pink Cadillac!
In 1978, at the Red Carpet Lounge in Detroit I took a photo of Dennis that I like very much - he's in the foreground and in the background Stanley The Madhatter is making out with Ruthie, the young girl who was a neighbor of the Ashetons. Sacré Stanley! Always on the make!
Later when DKT/MC5 recently formed I was happy to see Dennis again, and had some good conversations with him, sharing life experiences. He's a very philosophical, intellectual, spiritual person, and I connect with that. It was satisfying for me to capture his delight and humour. Angela Davis recruited me to celebrate Dennis' birthday at a gig in Paris. I got the cake and party elements arranged and they surprised Dennis on stage.
